Diese Formation um die Brüder Ferenc und Magnus Mehl hat sich ganz dem
modernen, unverbrauchten Jazz verschrieben. Das spannungsgeladene Bandkonzept beinhaltet fetzige Eigenkompositionen und gefühlvolle Balladen.
Ohne Berührungsängste schöpfen die Vier aus den Vollen der Jazzgeschichte, begeistern aber trotzdem mit ihrer ganz persönlichen, explosiven Musik, welche stets von unglaublicher Energie beseelt ist.

Ende 2009 und Anfang 2010 war die Band mit dem exzellenten New Yorker Saxophonisten Jake Saslow als Gast, zweimal auf Tour im In- und Ausland und legte Ihre aktuelle CD „Baden verboten!“ vor (siehe Stimmen zur CD). Jake Saslow war Stipendiat des renommierten Thelonious Monk Instituts und arbeitete dort mit Legenden wie Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock und Ron Carter zusammen.

Das Ferenc und Magnus Mehl Quartett besteht aus Musikern, die das Bundesjugendjazzorchester und verschiedene Landesjazzorchestern durchlaufen haben. Alle haben in diversen Gruppen schon beachtliches
geleistet. So hat die Band beispielsweise Preisträger zahlreicher renommierter Wettbewerbe in ihren Reihen (u.a. „int. Getxo Jazzcontest“, „int. Jimmy Woode Award“, „int. Hoilaart Jazzcontest“, „Jazz an der Donau“, “int. Jazz Competition Granada“, „Biberacher Jazzpreis“)

Mehrfach spielte die Band Clubtouren in Deutschland und trat bei großen internationalen Festivals wie „VS-swingt“ (Deutschland), dem „Novi Sad Jazzfestival“, dem „Pancevo Jazzfestival“ (beide Serbien), dem „Ibiza Jazzfestival“, dem int. Elorrio Jazz- and Bluesfestival (beide Spanien), dem bundesweiten Nachwuchsfestival in Leipzig oder beispielsweise auch auf Einladung der deutschen Botschaft in Kopenhagen auf.
Zudem war das Ensemble auf Einladung des Goethe Instituts mehrfach auf Gastspielreise in Serbien und im Kosovo.

Desweiteren gewann die Band im Juli 06 als „Magnus Mehl Quintett“ den ersten Preis beim europaweit ausgeschriebenen Wettbewerb des Getxo Jazzfestival (nahe Bilbao). Dieser renommierte Jazzpreis war verbunden mit mehreren Auftritten im Hauptprogramm des Festivals.
Die Band war Teil eines Doppelkonzerts mit Eddie Palmieri und seinen Afro – Carribean All – Stars und gestaltete einen weiteren Konzertabend zusammen mit dem Billy Cobham – Lockwood String Quartett. Eine Live - CD der Band (die beiden Konzerte wurden aufgezeichnet) ist beim Label des Festivals erschienen.

Weitere tolle Erfolge waren der hervorragende zweite Platz beim 28ten Internationalen Hoilaart Jazzwettbewerb, welchen die Combo im
Septemper 2006 belegte und der erste Preis beim int. Jimmy Woode Jazzaward.
Im Rahmen dieses Wettbewerbs wurden die Musiker, von der Jury um den Pianisten Kenny Barron, neben dem Hauptpreis außerdem noch mit 3 weiteren Solistenpreisen ausgezeichnet.

Mit ihrem tollen Zusammenspiel und ihren energiegeladenen Soli begeistert die Band jedes Mal ihr Publikum. Die frische, unkonventionelle Musik des Ferenc und Magnus Mehl Quartetts sowie das ungezwungene und schmissige Auftreten der Musiker lässt garantiert den Funken überspringen.

This formation around the brothers Magnus and Ferenc Mehl has dedicated themselves to modern, unaltered Jazz. Their fresh and intense band concept includes not only original new compositions, but also deep and emotional ballads. In their music these four show no fear and hesitation to dig deep into the history of Jazz; and yet, they never lose their personal and explosive style, giving their music both energy and soul.
The Ferenc and Magnus Mehl Quartet consists of musicians who had been selected and supported by the National German Youth Jazz Orchestra and various State Youth Jazz Orchestras. All of them have made a name and achieved success in multiple previous formations and groups.
Multiple times did the band tour through the clubs of the German jazz scene, and play at established international festivals. For example: “VS-swingt”, the Ibiza Jazz Festival, the Novi Sad Jazz Festival, the Pancevo Jazz Festival, or in Kopenhagen, by invitation of the German embassy. Moreover, the ensemble was invited by the Goethe Institute to tour Serbia and the Kosovo several times .
Their harmony on and off the stage, and their captivating, energetic solo performances excite crowds over and over again. The fresh and unconventional style of the Ferenc and Magnus Mehl Quartet in addition to their charismatic and unforced appearance makes it impossible to escape the magic of their music.
